Dear OTCC Friends,

You have probably heard Pastor Phil share the challenge from time to time to be actively on mission for God in the “places where we live, work, and play.” Truly it has been a joy to have spent the last 6.5 years living out my purpose as the director of the children’s ministry and the director of operations here. Not always easy, but definitely time filled with valuable lessons, personal and professional growth, and the rich relationships developed. As I prepare for my last week on staff at OTCC I am definitely a ball of emotions.

Interestingly, the text that Pastor Brian’s message tomorrow draws from is a source of hope for me today. I don’t want to ruin it for you tomorrow, but the portion of the passage that really speaks to me and this new season of life I’m entering into is the notion that “the Kingdom of God is near.” God’s reign, ushered in by Jesus, is here (and yet to fully be realized) and I have an opportunity to be a part of what He is doing in the world today. In fact, we all do!

Although my call looks a little different come September 26th, I am excited to see how I can continue to partner with the Spirit on mission where I live, work and play. And, I’m just excited to see how He’ll start or continue to work through each of us as we proclaim through actions, deeds, and, when needed, words to our neighbors, coworkers, family members, and friends that the Kingdom of God is near!

Looking forward to being with you in worship tomorrow!

Our Race, Class, and the Kingdom of God study continues this Monday night, September 21. We had a wonderful first gathering this past week and are looking forward to growing together through safe and authentic conversations about race within community. Through this study we are becoming better equipped and empowered to do something about the divisions we experience.

If you'd like to participate, please join us this Monday night at 7. Each session includes video-based teaching from experts in the field and opportunities for reflection and sharing. Meetings will take place entirely over Zoom. Register here.

Another Successful Blood Drive

We had our second blood drive since the start of the pandemic this past Wednesday. Thank you to all who prayed for this event as well as those who came and gave blood! We are grateful that we have been able to use our building space in this way.

The American Red Cross collected blood from 37 donors, which will be used to save as many as 111 lives.
